Here’s a quiet truth about events: around 60% of people who bail do it because they didn’t plan how to get there. The tram, the parking, the “where even is it?” It all piles up at 5 pm on a Wednesday, and the couch wins.

We don’t want that for you. We want you arriving feeling the ease. So it’s all here: trams, trains, parking, maps.

Want to beat the traffic? Come earlier. Doors are 6:30 pm, and you’re welcome to settle in, grab a drink at bar and cafe prices, and land before everyone else does.

  • Free Tram Zone. The whole trip in the city is free by tram.
  • Parliament and Flinders Street stations are both a short walk away.
  • Trams on Swanston and Flinders Streets are all a short distance away.
  • Multiple car parks at multiple prices, with easy access from Flinders Lane.

COST SHOULDN'T STOP YOU

If getting into the city is a stretch financially, please let us know. We can see who can pay it forward to you. You never know if you never ask! Email info@sococollective.com.au.

ACCESSIBILITY

Come as you are. Plan your visit. Here is what is available, what is still limited and how to ask for support before you book. You do not need a project, a professional reason or the energy to join every conversation.

THE SPACE

  • Listed as step-free through the event space.
  • Wheelchair-accessible toilets and an accessible water station.
  • Assistance animals welcome.
  • Seating close to the host is available.
  • Need particular table clearance, seating, space for a mobility aid or a place beside a support person? Tell us what would work.
  • Doorway measurements, toilet layout and seating clearances have not yet been published.

HEARING AND SENSORY

  • Quieter areas. Headphones, fidgets and other sensory supports welcome.
  • Conversation and meal service may create background noise. A quieter area may still have sound from nearby spaces.
  • Sitting close to the host may not meet your hearing needs.
  • Screens for key information are not yet confirmed.
  • Need a quieter conversation, rather than a break? Ask before booking. An acoustically isolated space is not yet confirmed.
  • Contact us about lighting, low-vision information, written instructions or other communication needs.

YOUR PACE

  • Connect: share a light meal or join a conversation.
  • Create: read, write, make something or work on your own task.
  • Contribute: offer an idea, a contact or a listening ear.
  • Quietly be: observe or settle into a quieter space.
  • No forced networking or compulsory participation. The Get Unstuck session is optional. You do not need to share a personal story or show progress to deserve a seat.

YOUR PEOPLE

  • Bringing a support person? Booking currently asks you to reserve both seats. Before paying, contact us to check support-person admission, meal arrangements and cost. A complimentary place is not currently advertised.
  • This first event is not set up for children. We know that makes it harder for parents and carers. Check with us if you are unsure whether a young person can attend.

FOOD

  • Choose omnivore, vegetarian, vegan or not eating when booking. There is also a gluten-free option.
  • A light shared meal, served within a limited window after arrival. The exact schedule is emailed a week before.
  • Catering is planned without nuts. If you have an allergy, ask us to confirm ingredients and cross-contact arrangements.
  • Requirements not covered (medical, religious, cultural or sensory)? Contact us before booking.
  • Please do not bring your own food. You can attend without eating; the seat price stays the same.

COSTS

  • $33 plus booking fee, also if you choose not to eat. Drinks are bought separately.
  • Cost a barrier? Our pay-it-forward pool helps fund community seats. Email us, no big explanation needed. The team confirms community seats.
  • Bookings are non-refundable but can be transferred under the booking terms. Check any access arrangements you rely on before paying.
  • Booking does not ask about photography or filming. If you would rather stay off camera, email us beforehand or tell a host on arrival and the crew will honour your choice. Other guests choose for themselves with the crew.
  • Please do not film, photograph or post other guests without their permission.
  • Harassment, discrimination and aggressive behaviour are not accepted. If something makes it hard to participate, speak to a host or contact the team.

BEING HONEST ABOUT WHAT WE DON’T HAVE YET

No hearing augmentation system (such as a hearing loop), Auslan interpreting or live captioning is currently provided. Free parking is not yet confirmed, and transport assistance depends on what can be arranged. If you rely on a particular arrangement, please ask before booking.

Tell us what would help and how you would prefer to discuss it. You do not need to share a diagnosis. Email info@sococollective.com.au. Having trouble with the website or booking form? Email the same address and tell us where you got stuck.

This information does not replace confirmation of the particular access arrangements you need.
